Privacy Policy

Overview

SiliconWit.io is an Internet of Things (IoT) platform for monitoring and managing connected devices, sensors, and assets. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what control you have over it.

What We Collect

Account Information

When you register, we collect your name, email address, and optionally your phone number and company name. If you sign in with a social login provider, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from that provider.

Device and Telemetry Data

Data sent by your IoT devices (sensor readings, status updates, measurements) is stored on our servers. This includes the data payload, timestamps, and device identifiers. We do not inspect or analyze the content of your telemetry data for any purpose other than delivering the service to you.

Location and Geospatial Data

If your devices transmit location coordinates (GPS, geofence boundaries, or similar geospatial fields), this data is stored as part of your telemetry. We do not use device location data for tracking, profiling, or any purpose beyond displaying it on your dashboard and evaluating alerts you have configured.

Camera and Image Data

If you use the snapshot feature, images uploaded from camera-equipped devices are stored securely and are accessible only to you and anyone you explicitly share the device with. Images are subject to the same retention policy as your telemetry data. See our camera snapshots documentation for details.

Usage and Technical Data

We collect standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) and use infrastructure services for performance and security. We use a session cookie for authentication. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

How We Use Your Data

  • Operate the platform: device management, real-time dashboards, alerts, and API access
  • Send transactional communications: account verification, password resets, alert notifications, billing receipts
  • Send SMS alert notifications where enabled on your plan and configured by you
  • Process payments (we do not store your card details; payment processing is handled by a third-party provider)
  • Enforce rate limits, prevent abuse, and maintain platform security

Automated Processing

The platform performs automated processing of your device data in the following ways:

  • Alert evaluation: Incoming telemetry is compared against your configured alert rules to determine whether to send notifications
  • Command actions: Alerts can trigger automated commands to your devices based on rules you define
  • Webhook delivery: Telemetry and alert events can be forwarded to external URLs you configure
  • Data retention enforcement: Telemetry data older than your plan's retention period is automatically deleted after a grace period

All automated processing is based on rules you create and can disable at any time. We do not use your data for machine learning, profiling, or automated decision-making beyond what you have explicitly configured.

Data Retention and Deletion

Telemetry data is retained according to your subscription plan's retention period. Data exceeding your retention period is subject to automated deletion after a grace period. You will receive a warning email before any automated deletion occurs.

You can delete individual devices or your entire account from your dashboard. Both operations include a grace period during which you can cancel. After the grace period, all associated data is permanently removed.

Accounts that remain inactive may be automatically deleted: unverified accounts after 30 days, and verified free-plan accounts with no devices after 6 months of inactivity (with a 30-day warning). See our inactive account cleanup documentation for details.

In rare cases involving serious terms of service violations, an administrator may terminate an account with a reduced or no grace period. We will attempt to notify you by email when such action is taken. See our account termination documentation for details.

Important: Deleted data cannot be recovered. We do not retain backups of individual user data after deletion. We strongly recommend regularly exporting your data using the CSV or Excel export feature. See our data retention documentation for specific retention periods and grace periods per plan.

Data Export and Portability

You can export your telemetry data at any time in CSV or Excel format from any device page. Snapshots can be downloaded directly via their URLs. We believe your data belongs to you and support your ability to take it with you at any time.

Shared and Public Data

When you make a device public, its telemetry data and configured public fields become accessible to anyone with the link. You control which fields are visible and can revoke public access at any time.

When you share a device with another user, they can view the data fields you grant access to. You can revoke shared access at any time from your device settings.

Third-Party Services

We use third-party service providers in the following categories to operate the platform:

  • Hosting and infrastructure: content delivery, DDoS protection, DNS, and edge computing
  • Payment processing: subscription billing and payment handling (your card details are handled by the payment provider, not by us)
  • Email delivery: transactional emails including account verification, alerts, and receipts
  • SMS delivery: SMS alert notifications on plans that include SMS

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Cross-Border Data Processing

Your data may be processed in multiple geographic regions as part of delivering the service. This includes edge network processing, database storage, and email or SMS delivery through regional infrastructure. By using the platform, you consent to this cross-border processing. We take reasonable measures to ensure your data is protected regardless of where it is processed.

Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

  • Passwords are hashed using strong cryptographic algorithms with per-user salts
  • Sessions use signed cookies transmitted over encrypted connections
  • Two-factor authentication (TOTP) and passkeys are available for additional account security
  • All connections use TLS encryption, including device-to-platform communication
  • Device credentials are stored securely and can be regenerated at any time
  • Rate limiting is applied to prevent brute-force and abuse

See our security documentation for information on enabling two-factor authentication and other account security features.

Your Rights

You can:

  • Export your telemetry data at any time (CSV or Excel from the device page)
  • Update or correct your profile information from your settings page
  • Delete your devices or your entire account, with a grace period for recovery
  • Control which data is publicly visible and revoke public or shared access
  • Disable or modify any automated alert rules at any time
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

For any privacy-related requests, please contact us.

Cookies

We use a single essential session cookie for authentication. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party tracking scripts.

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed toward children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will promptly delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of the services after changes constitutes acceptance.
